My first outing of 2009 was a last minute dash down to Manchester to see the Libyan AN124.

While browsing through some of my old photo's, I decided it would be a good idea to scan some of them and add them to this site. This collection dates back to around 1985 and some of my early efforts at photographing what was at the time, some of the latest military hardware to grace our sky's. The quality of these scanned photo's are not exactly top notch, but I think they serve as a reminder of what has come and gone over the past 20 years or so. I will be adding more shots as and when time allows.

Only my second visit to Manchester this year produced the following. Pitty I wasn't there the day before when a number of diversions from Heathrow graced the Manchester tarmac. Thanks to Darren for the ride.

This has to be one of the best museum's that I have ever visited and yes it's free. Just a shame that all the all the exhibits are so close together, making photography rather difficult.

The first run down of 2008, was for the Russain invasion in connection with the UEFA Cup Final being held at the City of Manchester Stadium. A very enjoyable day was had sitting on the mound, even if we did miss the Transaero 747 landing. Tho only down side to the day was the heat haze, which caused major problems when trying to zoom in on the smaller aircraft

Just like last year, I took advantage of a good cheap deal with Ryanair and decided to spend the day at Dublin. Not as good as my last visit 12 months ago, however a very enjoyable day was had none the less.

Now that winter is well and truly upon us, I have decided to scan some of my early attempts at aviation photography. Although the quality of these shots are rather poor, I thought that it would be a good idea to look back at many of the airliners and airlines that once graced our sky's. All photos were taken using a Pentax K1000 35mm camera. Any comments on improving my scanning, then feel free to leave a comment.

I have made 6 trips down to Manchester so far this year and this is just a small selection from the many photo's that I have taken so far.

A very enjoyable day was had by the 5 of us, who made the long trip down to Fairford for RIAT 2007. The big question being asked was, would it live up to expectations ? I believe it did, however there were many who thought it didn't. All I would like to say on the matter, is a big thank you to all the people at RIAT and the various armed forces for taking the time and trouble to put on a show. I hope you enjoy my selection of shots taken at this years event and I am sure there are many of you out there who will join me in looking forward to RIAT 2008.

Not the best weather for an airshow or the photographer, however hats off to the pilots and their supporting crews for putting on a display, despite the terrible weather conditions.

I took the opportunity to pay this small base a quick visit during my visit to Dublin.

This was my first ever visit to Dublin and I wasnt disapointed. The weather was terrible with heavy rain first thing, however it did improve as the day went on and I came away feeling rather content. Not a bad day out for £20.

My only visit to Edinburgh of 2006, was for the French Invasion of rugby fans, in connection with the match at Murrayfield.

This was my first visit here this year. Not a bad day out considering the weather we have had recently.

I managed 2 visits to Coningsby last year, the first being for the arrival of the Jaguars form Coltishall and the second while being on holiday.

For once this annual Battle of Britain Airshow was blessed with brilliant weather, however the sun played havoc with many of the flying shots. This was a shame, as for the first time in years, the locals launched a diamond nine formation, with their Tornado F3's.

I have been fortunate to visit Amsterdam twice this year and here is a selection from both those visits.

The first show of the year for me. Brilliant weather and one or two nice photos to go with it. Shame about the lack of foriegn visitors though.

The biggest and best show of the year. Well worth the entry fee. Once again we were blessed with brilliant weather, which gave me the chance to try out my new 170-500mm lens.

I had the pleasure of visiting Heathrow on 2 occasions this years and these are just a few shots from those visits.

These shots were taken from several locations around the airport during my 4 visits to Manchester this year.

Many of these shots were taken while working at Newcastle airport. Now I have to make do with taking my photos from outside.
